About Us

The Chaffey Joint Union High School District serves the communities of Ontario, Montclair, Rancho Cucamonga, and portions of Fontana, Upland, Chino, and Mount Baldy. With over 25,000 students, the District is the fourth largest high school district in California. It has eight comprehensive high schools, a continuation high school, an online high school, a community day school, an adult school, and alternative programs. The District offers a wide variety of instructional options that provide a quality education for each student, every day. The District's well-prepared, dedicated, and highly qualified teachers and support personnel are second to none.

The Chaffey Joint Union High School District Board of Trustees are steadfast in the belief that "Nothing is more important than student learning and their achievement."

Our daily purpose encompasses our commitment:
"To provide student learning, and ultimately their achievement, of the prescribed curriculum that takes place in the classroom under the direction of the teacher." The Chaffey District supports this daily act. We realize that our efforts uniquely influence the future of our community and of this nation, and we are passionate about doing whatever it takes to prepare students to be successful and contributing citizens of the 21st century.

The Chaffey District has provided a quality education for high school students in the area since 1911. As the District continues to grow and progress, we are poised to meet the challenge of providing the finest quality education possible for every student.

Principal's Message

Julie Prestsater
Dear AEC Students and Families,

Happy New Year and welcome back! We hope your winter break provided time for rest, connection, and reflection. As we begin January, we are excited to welcome our students back and continue supporting each learner on their path toward graduation, growth, and future goals. January is a natural time for fresh starts. At the Alternative Education Center, we remind students that progress does not require perfection — just consistency, effort, and support. Every day is an opportunity to move forward.

January Highlights & Reminders

Classes Resume

All AEC programs resumed classes this month. Daily attendance and on-time arrival remain critical to student success and credit completion.

Minimum Days - Academic Review Days

Please be on the lookout for communication from your specific school regarding any minimum days or schedule adjustments later this month.

Progress Check

January is an important checkpoint for students to:

   - Review credits earned and credits still needed
   - Connect with teachers and counselors if support is needed
   - Ask questions early rather than waiting until the end of the term

Families are encouraged to monitor progress through Aeries, Canvas, and ParentSquare, and to reach out if anything is unclear.

Focus for the New Year: Future Ready Habits

As we begin 2026, we continue reinforcing habits that support learning and readiness for life beyond high school:

   - Be Present, Be Ready – attending class daily and on time, and putting your phone in your backpack during               class time
   - Move with Purpose – using time and passes responsibly
   - Dress for Success – adequately covered, comfortable, and college and career ready

These habits help create a safe, respectful, and supportive campus for everyone.

We’re Here to Support

Our staff is committed to meeting students where they are and helping them move forward — academically, socially, and emotionally. If your student needs extra support, please encourage them to:

   - Speak with a teacher
   - Visit the counseling office
   - Reach out to an administrator

Families are always welcome to contact the school to partner with us in supporting student success.

Thank you for your continued partnership and trust. We are proud of the resilience our students show every day and look forward to a strong start to the new year.

As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Warm regards,
Mrs. Julie Prestsater
